How to be a jack in Blackjack in 2022

If you are a novice, seeing the Blackjack game as a tough nut to crack is normal. There can be times when you will be completely clueless about your next moves and strategy. But like every game, Blackjack has some time-tested strategies that can work like magic on your game. A good Blackjack strategy, like other casino games, requires a confluence of bankroll management and some tips. So what are the best tips to master your Blackjack game in 2022?

  1. Managing bankrolls: Know the extent to which you want to play the game

You should know how much to bet before knowing how to bet. A good play with bad bankroll management is a bad play. This is the basic strategy for betting anywhere on anything; knowing the extent to which you can play.

  1. Don’t ask questions: Always Double down on a hard 11.

You’ll always win more money by doubling down when it’s hard 11 against any dealer’s upcard vs. hitting in every game, with an exception. The exception is when you play a multi-deck game, and the rules specify that the dealer must stand on soft 17. Here, a hit of an Ace would be a better option than doubling down.

  1. Split the pair of 8 and Aces; never split a pair of 5s or 10s.

Split the pairs of 8 and Ace, no matter what the upcard is. This is because, in the case of Aces, it results in gains. And for 8s, it will allow you to minimize your losses and add more money. This Blackjack strategy is, of course, based on the dealer’s upcard.

Do not split a pair of 5s (which is a hard 10). One card (or more) draw to a 10 is better than splitting the 5s and playing 2 hands starting with a 5.

Note: Yes, splitting 10 offers winning quite regularly, but 20 is always bigger.

  1. Start with the basic strategy well: This can be your cheat sheet
  • Try standing with a hand of 12-16 as against the dealer having 2-6.
  • Hitting when your hand is 12-16 against when the dealer has 7-Ace sounds like a good idea.
  • Always split aces and 8s, like we just stated earlier.
  • Doubling 11 as against the dealer’s 2-10 can work.
  • Hit/double Aces-6, the golden play
  1. It all depends on the dealer’s upcard, don’t mess it up by not checking it.

When you are playing, knowing the upcard can be a great way to begin strategizing. Ask yourself, is it bad (2 through 6), or is it good (7 through Ace)? This makes all the difference and should define your course of action in a blackjack game.

  1. Remember when to split and when to surrender

Here are the scenarios where a split should be the way forward:

  • 2’s and 3’s as against dealer’s 4, 5, 6, or 7
  • 6’s as against dealer’s 3, 4, 5, or 6
  • 7’s as against dealer’s 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7
  • 9’s as against a dealer’s 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8,9, but not 7

If a double split is allowed, there needs to be a slight modification in your blackjack game. Split 2’s and 3’s against the dealer’s 2’s and 3’s, 6’s against the dealer’s 2’s, and 4’s against the dealer’s 2’s.

The occasions where a surrender sounds a better idea are as follows:

  • You can surrender a hard 16 but never a pair of 8’s as against dealer’s 9, 10, or Ace
  • You can surrender a hard 15 as against a dealer’s 10
  1. If you aim to make an insurance bet, don’t

The insurance bet is a bet you lose, by all means. The best strategy is to not choose insurance when the dealer’s upcard is an Ace. Even when you are dealt a good hand (like 19 or 20), steer clear of the insurance bet. The reason being the payoff for the insurance bet (2 to 1) is way less than the odds that the dealer will have a blackjack.

Conclusion: Why strategize? What does it do to your blackjack game?

The summary of the strategies would be to play small, remember the basics, watch your pocket, and not be emotional. Not having a sturdy strategy is chasing losses. Make sure you don’t miss out. Blackjack is not a gambling game like roulette or video poker. It uses a lot of intelligence. Professionals work and master their blackjack strategy with years of experience. It requires strategizing, planning, calculating, and calculated risk-taking. The goal of the whole strategy thing is to maximize your chances of winning. You can study the charts, make plans, and play accordingly, and you will have your Blackjack game under control.
