Batting first against Zimbabwe, the West Indies scored 372 with the loss of just two wickets. Gayle blasted the Zimbabwe bowlers, scoring 215 runs in just 147 balls. The white-ball legend’s knock saw ten fours and 16 sixes.

In response to West Indies’ giant score, Zimbabwe could not get going and fell short by 73 runs. Pacer Jerome Taylor and all-rounder Jason Holder took three wickets each. Gayle, unsurprisingly, was named the player of the match.
